Citroen's world champion Sebastien Loeb claimed his third win in a row as he took the Rally of Argentina 36.7 seconds ahead of Finland's Marcus Gronholm. Loeb now leads Gronholm by three points in the championship after securing his fourth win of the season.
Sunday's final leg was extended by one stage to ensure drivers completed the mandatory two-thirds distance for scoring championship points. Seven stages were cancelled on Friday because bad weather left some drivers stranded in Buenos Aires, 700km from Cordoba, after an opening super-special stage in the capital on Thursday.
Loeb, who also won the Rally of Argentina in 2005 and 2006, won 10 stages in total, including the last super-special, and looks in good shape to reclaim his world championship crown. – 6 May 2007
