Senderos Makes Full International Debut

Philippe Senderos continued his fantastic progress in 2005 when he made his full international debut for Switzerland last night. Just two months after his Premiership debut, Philippe was called up by his country for the crucial World Cup qualifier against France in Paris.

In front of a record attendance at the Stade de France, Philippe had a memorable debut, helping to keep the star-studded French attack scoreless. Philippe played an important part in helping the Swiss secure a well-deserved point in a tense 0-0 draw.

This could prove to be a vital away point as this is the most closely contested of the World Cup qualifying groups, with Ireland and Israel also in contention for the two places in Germany 2006. Philippe has also been named in the Swiss squad for the forthcoming qualifier against Cyprus and looks set to play a big role for the Swiss national team in the years to come. – 27 March 2005
