Another Clean Sheet for Senderos

Philippe Senderos continued his excellent run of recent form, helping the Swiss defence keep another clean sheet in the World Cup qualifier against Cyprus in Zurich. Switzerland won a hard-fought match 1-0 with Alex Frei scoring the vital late goal.

The result keeps the Swiss firmly in the hunt, with only one point now dividing the top four teams in Group 4, as they battle for the two qualifying places on offer.

Philippe was winning his second full cap and looks set to play a major role for the Swiss in the remainder of the World Cup campaign. – 30 March 2005
