Philippe Senderos received a fitting acknowledgement of his terrific performances for club and country when he was voted the Arsenal FC Player of the Month for March.
The Lanson/Arsenal.com award is voted for by the supporters and they are clearly impressed with Philippe’s contribution since he has broken into the first-team at Highbury. The young Swiss defender played a major role in helping the Gunners keep five successive clean sheets in March, which included matches in the FA Cup, Premiership and also Philippe’s Champions League debut against Bayern Munich.
Add to this, a full international debut for Switzerland and two further clean sheets at international level and it’s been quite some month for Philippe. He received 61% of the votes cast for the Arsenal award, with Thierry Henry in second place with 8%. With his current form, it looks like being the first award of many! – 1 April 2005
