Dan Wheldon
After spending the last three seasons with Target Chip Ganassi Racing, Dan Wheldon returns to Panther Racing for the 2009 IndyCar Series season. Since winning the IndyCar Series Rookie of the Year award in 2003, Wheldon has recorded 15 wins, 54 Top-5 finishes and five pole positions in only 97 career starts. In 2005, Dan won the Indianapolis 500 for Andretti Green Racing in only his third attempt at the Brickyard, becoming the first Englishman since Graham Hill in 1966 to win this prestigious race. That same season, Wheldon walked away with the IndyCar Series Championship, posting a series-record six wins in only 17 races. In 2006, Dan moved to Chip Ganassi Racing and nearly won his second consecutive IndyCar championship, tying Sam Hornish in driver’s points, but losing the championship tiebreaker based on season wins. Wheldon also has a Rolex 24 at Daytona win on his resume, taking the checkered flag in 2006 in his first official race for Ganassi.
