| Tiago Monteiro is currently racing in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) for the Seat Sport Team. Prior to this he spent 2 seasons in Formula 1 racing for the Midland F1 Team.
The 29 year-old Portuguese driver was a relative latecomer to Formula One, having only made his debut for the Jordan F1 Team in 2005. However, his ability was plain to see and he broke Jackie Stewart’s long-standing rookie record by finishing 18 of his 19 races (15 of them in succession) and also secured a podium place at the US Grand Prix, becoming the first Portuguese ever to stand on the F1 podium.
Tiago’s F1 performances were rewarded by Autosport.com and he received their prestigious “Rookie of the Year” Award for 2005.
