| Francesco was arguably Italy's finest ever amateur. He turned professional at the European Qualifying School immediately after helping Italy reach their highest ever position in the World Amateur Championships. He had previously reached the quarter final and semi final of the British Amateur Championship and starred in this year’s European Palmer Cup team. He finished 4th at the Final Stage of Qualifying School to secure his full European Tour card for 2005.
